Jouer Matte Moisture Tint

I have wanted to get my hands on the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint ($38) after reading several UK bloggers wax poetic about the product. I've been meaning to get a face base that I can slap on in a hurry. I debated on getting this or the Diorsnow Nude BB Cream, but in the end I settled for the Matte Moisture Tint because 1) it's cheaper and 2) it has a matte finish!

Swatch of Jouer Matte Moisture Tint in Nude
One of the hardest thing about buying foundation online is not knowing what shade would fit you best. Good thing Nordstrom.com has a Live Chat option where you can ask their expert Beauty Stylists about absolutely anything beauty wise. I bugged the Nordstrom Beauty Stylists almost every day for about a week and a half before finally settling on the shade that they have recommended - Nude.

I bought my Jouer Matte Moisture Tint over at Beautybar.com because they had a 20% discount coupon - bringing my purchase down to $30 with free shipping. Retailmenot.com is my go-to coupon code finder! Do not buy anything online without checking for coupon codes! :)

Bare face | with the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint
I haven't had a lot of active pimples these past few of months - the only thing that I want to hide are my acne scars. As you can probably tell, the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint doesn't give the best coverage. At most (once you layer it on), you can build it up to a medium coverage. Though I find that layering it can make it look a little cakey, so I prefer to put just one layer of it then leave the rest to be covered by a heavy duty concealer.

Because I was so used to ~*luminous*~ foundations (which doesn't need any moisturizer or primer), I applied it on without prepping my face first. Wrong move since the Matte Moisture Tint clinged on the dry areas of my face - specifically my nose, forehead and cheeks. I was pretty devastated so I debated selling it online, but I decided to try it one more time with a primer this time around. It worked. Beautifully, if I may say so myself ;)

Face fully made up (no setting powder) | after 12 hours
I skip setting powders when I use this face base because it's so matte. And it stays matte after a long, long day. 10 hours after I first applied it is only when I actually saw my face oiled up like this. Prior to the 10-hour mark, my face was still completely intact (with just the slightest sheen on my t-zone area).

Overall, I am so impressed with this product. It held up really well despite the heat and the humidity. It has a really low SPF though - just SPF15 - so you might still want to apply sunblock prior to this. Oh, and despite it having a low SPF, it does cause a slight white cast when you use flash photography. If you want a super long lasting face base to use in the mornings though, I would suggest checking this product out!
