Yes, I Was Hauling Vinyl

Besides books, hair, makeup and crochet items, I have an obsession with music. I can remember as a child listening to music on my father’s record player and how he slowly converted to cassette tapes and then I started buying CDs as I became older. The fondest of my childhood memories were hearing the sound quality of my favorite music on my father’s vinyl records. I had no idea that 30 and some odd years later, I would be an avid vinyl collector.

It began with Brian…

He collects vinyl and we work together. We quickly became good friends and on the same moment that we first shared our first words together, we both expressed our undying love for music…and of course…older music.

A lot of people think that I am living in the past, but I’m not. I just know the importance of history and how the history of music has influenced the development of current music and our current culture. Just look at how many songs that are popular now are sampled…and a lot of us do not even realize that the song that we love is just a re-incarnation of a song that already existed a long time ago.

But back to the story…

So Brian started gifting vinyl records to me on my birthday and holidays…until I started gifting the same thing back to him…Then I joined Discogs and gained tons and tons of more feedback on my eBay account…not even remembering that I hoarded some vinyl in the past without even remembering.

I added these new gems to what I already owned and overnight, and I finally started my vinyl collection.

But you already knew music was one of my first loves. I address almost all of my posts with a video of the music that I listen to as I create my blog entries…

As the beauty bloggers post pictures of their beauty hauls, and the hair bloggers post pictures of their product haul, I’ll post pictures of my vinyl haul as a collector of what I believe is good music—the music of our past…the music that keeps resurrecting itself into our future.

I am posting today to share with you a vinyl haul that I scooped up during a Vinyl Record Swap Meet at the Blue Moon Saloon Sunday afternoon. It was a beautiful day and I left with a few of my favorites and a couple of rare albums that I always wanted.

Here are some photos of the event and some of my favorites from my vinyl haul. Not pictured are the tons of Chicago albums I was able to grab.

Until Next Time!
