BA HONS FASHION - MY GRADUATE COLLECTION

In celebration of London Fashion Week kicking off tomorrow, today I wanted to share with you something special that was my whole life for 8 months... my university graduate collection. I finally got the professional catwalk pictures back and this is something I put my all into and thought would never ever end. But looking back now, the last few months were all a blur (I didn't sleep much and lived on energy drinks) and I can't believe I actually made it through alive! I was ready to quit so many times, but I powered through and having just received my degree certificate of a 2:1, I couldn't be prouder! Five years of studying fashion design has finally come to an end.

Looking at these photos, it feels weird to say "I made ALL of that!", every single garment was researched, designed, pattern cut and sewn by me (minus the crochet). I wanted to create a collection that really reflected my personal style. I summed up my research book as "the inside of my brain" - a bit all over the place, lots of colours, glitter, fluffy pretty things, a little bit glamorous and a bit wacky.

Back in June we had the University of Hertfordshire annual graduate fashion show at The Yard, Shoreditch - an amazing show space which made it all feel very real and professional, where each year third years show their final collections to family, friends and industry experts. There were people from high up in the industry attending, so we had to impress. After 2 rehearsal shows it was time for the real thing - which was super stressful and nerve-wracking. A few little mishaps on my show, the models weren't in order of how I wanted my collection to be, and the sequin flares were unfortunately too big for all the models (I made them to fit myself) - they were supposed to be worn super high waisted and whenever I see them on the hips in these photos, it forever annoys me! But other than that, it went smoothly.

So i'll let the pictures do the talking, and I might even do a couple of blog posts on studying fashion at university, incase any of you are thinking about it. I'll also include some development photos of my collection from start to finish. Also, if anyone is interested in purchasing anything from my collection, just send me an email and i'll see what I can do. Enjoy :)
