(Jumper: C/O Next, Dress: C/O Next, Shoes: Linzi, Bag: Beyond Retro, Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters) I feel like, if I were Carrie Bradshaw and casually perched on my New York window ledge puffing at a cigarette, I'd begin this post with the question 'is less really more?' Whilst looking out into the distance and checking my inbox for emails from Mr Big (read: Joe). Anyway- in short, I'd deliberated this outfit for a good while before going out. It seemed a little restrained for a Liv look, and dare I say it- wondered if it looked ~whispers~ boring (plus, it didn't help that I tripped over running for the bus in this, not sassy, ladies). With a pallet of a mere two colours (where I'd usually be a little more adventurous) and a hat nowhere to be seen (with a Birkin-esque basket bag to compensate) I felt suitably sensible, but after a while I strangely began to enjoy it all!
It's a look that I'd imagine old starlets to wear in the '50s (with added glamour, ease and a less wobbly strut)- but a simple look of three staples (a good navy knit, a beautifully shaped a line dress or skirt and some classic heels) and a statement accessory to give it all a bit of personality. Okay, so maybe my brief moment of demure was simply that, but it's safe to say I could certainly get used to being a bit more sartorially subdued now and again- it ain't all that bad.
