The Foodie 3: #1

Living in London and working for myself- I'm pretty lucky that I get to try a few different lovely places to eat now and again. A lot of the time, however, the biggest mention they get is on Instagram (over-the-table-foot-shots-FTW)- meaning I often forget about them until I have a scroll through my iPhone photo stream, or walk past them probably in a rush to some place or another. Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that I thought I'd start sharing some of my favourite foodie hide-outs in London. Some of them are certainly more well known than others, and I'm certainly no 'foodie' (despite what the title says), but I thought I'd make an effort to document all of the lovely places to get nosh in the UK- as hopefully some of you will get to enjoy them too! Bon appetit! (oh, and if you have anywhere lovely to recommend too, do let me know- sharing is caring)!

Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea - The Sanderson

For my birthday, Joe's lovely little sister Molly kindly booked the pair of us in to The Sanderson, to indulge in their amazing Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea- a spectacle inspired by the wonderful Alice in Wonderland, and one that tasted blooming magical too. Not only was the attention to detail enough to have you staring at the food for longer than you'd be eating it (when it's that tasty, it's gone before you know it), but it's a welcome twist from something more traditional, plus the hotel is awesome too. Good job, Mole!

Fortnum & Mason - The Parlour

If you've ever fancied feeling like K-Middy for the afternoon (minus the L.K Bennett) then I'm probably sure The Parlour at Fortnum & Mason is the place to head to- the ultimate Princess style place for ice cream and all things sweet. Not only do they have your traditional scone and jam combination (I see a theme appearing here), but a menu bursting with more Sundaes than the coolest American Diner, with perfect pastel interiors to match, pretty dreamy- right?

Dishoom

Now, if you know me you'll know I can be a bit of a fussy eater. I'm happy to try most things, but let's just say I'm a bit Ben Stiller in Along Came Polly with spicy food (ok, not that bad)- but you get the idea, and I tend to stick to what I know- which is blooming boring if you ask me (and how I wish I didn't). Either way, visiting Dishoom tucked away in St Martins Courtyard was certainly a step away from my go-to Pizza Express, safe Italian style hide-outs, but I couldn't have loved it more. With a range of treats to suit all taste buds (even you mild-Myrtles like me), they nail the family Bombay cafe style feel, and I'm just planning my next visit pack to sample more of the menu- mmm!
