Championing the Letter T with Innocent #AlphabetChampions

We consume a lot of Innocent smoothies in this family, and have really enjoyed collecting the free letter magnets they pop into the boxes from time to time. We’ve never managed to collect enough letters to spell anything useful, but the kids still have loads of fun with them. So when Innocent approached me to see if I would like to work with them on their back to school #alphabetchampions campaign, one of the reasons I was so keen to join in was that they promised to send me the complete alphabet of magnets!

I’m joining 25 other bloggers, each of whom is championing a different letter during September. Each day one of us has been challenged to post a photo of something beginning with our allocated letter that has something to do with either fruit or back to school. Owing to my love of technology I have been allocated the letter T, and as soon as I found that out I knew what I would choose to photograph. Not something technology-related at all, but something very definitely back to school related.

The geekson started school this year. My little boy, all grown up! One of the things the school asked us to do over the summer holidays was to put together a treasure box for him. A shoebox, covered and decorated, and filled with things from home. Things that he could use to show his teacher and friends what is important to him, or things that might comfort him if he feels a little homesick in the first few weeks. We did the same for the geekdaughter when she started school two years ago, and it helped her on a few difficult days, so I was keen to get it right for the geekson as well. The geekdaddy took him shopping for just the right wrapping paper to cover the box, a selection of stickers were applied, and suitable items chosen and placed inside.

On his first day at school he very proudly carried his treasure box on the school run with us.

And what treasures could be found in the box? Well, there’s his lion comfort blanket (well, one of them – we own several so as never to run out!), a couple of toy cars and a toy helicopter, a LEGO helicopter, and a few family photos. All chosen by him, and all things he thought would remind him of home whilst he was at school.

The treasure box will stay at school until he’s happily settled in and no longer getting home sick. I think it’s a great idea, and I’m so pleased the school suggested it.

Innocent have set these alphabet challenges in order to publicise the fact that the alphabet magnets are back inside special promotional packs for a limited time only. And the good news, at least as far as I am concerned, is that if you collect the barcodes from any Innocent kids product packs you can order the magnets to spell any names you like – I’ll definitely be collecting up to get the kids’ names this time around.
