Here's how:
Bottle Cap Magnets with a Soda Can Twist
1. Start by cutting open and flattening out an assortment of aluminum soda cans. You can find complete directions on how to do that here in a post I wrote a while back. I had a lot of scraps from previous projects.
2. Punch shapes from the aluminum sheets to fit inside the bottle caps. A 1" circle punch fits perfectly inside the bottle caps. Arrange the shapes to your liking and then remove them from the bottle caps and set them aside.
3. Mix the Enviro Tex resin according to the directions. I like to use a cookie sheet lined with a piece of paper as my work surface.
4. Dab a little resin in the bottom of the bottle cap and press the first piece of aluminum into it. Continue adding the rest of the aluminum pieces to the bottle cap using a little bit of resin on each one like glue to keep them all in place.
5. Use the wooden stir stick to dribble resin into each bottle cap until it reaches the top lip of each one. Remove bubbles by gently heating with the heat embossing tool. Cover the bottle caps with a box or paper plate to keep the dust out and set aside overnight until the resin cures.
That's it! For an easy gift, package a set of the magnets in a little metal gift box fitted with a bit of embossed construction paper. People will love it!
