Rapid White Express Sensitive 5 Minute Dissolving Tooth Whitening Strips

For the love of monkeys WHY are product names getting so stupidly, insanely long? SRSLY. I’ve been looking forward to sharing with you my assessment of the Rapid White Express Sensitive 5 Minute Dissolving….*has a nap, wakes and notices still typing product name*…Tooth Whitening Strips as I’ve been very thorough with my review and I’ve got lots to tell you about them, so I’m breaking down old-school style with the good, the bad and the ugly.

The Good

The Rapid White Express Sensitive 5 Minute Dissolving Tooth Whitening Strips are very easy to use and they slot happily into your daily routine. You’re supplied with 14 sachets, each of which contain 2 strips plus a tube of accelerator with sponge at the end. Quite simply you brush your teeth, worth the accelerator over the are you want whitened, then on goes the strip. You leave it to dissolve – which takes around 5 minutes – then you can swill out any remains or you can just leave it as it is. You can’t drink or eat for 15 minutes but after that you’re fine.

The Bad

I found 1 session easy to do but I did keep forgetting to do the morning session. In the evening I could put the strips on then crack on with my make-up removal/cleansing routine and by the time I’d completed that, chances are the strip would be done and I could take a quick shot of mouthwash to remove any remaining bits. The strips are a little fiddly, so I recommend getting them unstuck before you apply the accelerator so you can then stick them straight on. The top teeth wasn’t a problem as it was easy to line-up, but the bottom one was a nightmare as I always ended up getting it stuck on my lips and then it was virtually impossible to correct.

The Ugly

The taste is absolutely awful! It’s supposed to be a mint flavour but it’s the most unpleasant, horrendously synthetic taste that you have to tolerate for 5 minutes twice a day. I’d stay by the sink during the sessions so I could regularly spit any of the dissolving product as it was truly grim. Secondly, I ended up with very sensitive lower teeth which are still sensitive now, 2 days after finishing the treatment. I’m not worried as it isn’t awful and I’m pretty confident it won’t last, but it’s worth mentioning.

Now, the most important thing is whether they work or not. I would say they are stain-removers rather than teeth-whiteners. On this basis, if you used to have very white teeth at any point then I think you’d do very well with these, but I’ve never had very white teeth (apart from when I had them professionally whitened) so I was limited on how far these could take the shade of my teeth. I’m also the worst person for trying whitening products as I do all the wrong things; I drink 3-4 cups of strong coffee each day as well as 2 cans of coke (shush your judgement, I have a a 10 month old bubs; if I could arrange a caffeine drip then I definitely would) so my teeth are going to be off-colour. Having said that, I’d say these leave teeth looking a lot like they do when you’ve visited the hygienist: smoother, cleaner, brighter and definitely whiter, just not “whitened”. If you consider how much a visit to the hygienist costs then these strips are not a bad investment, but if you’re looking for that Simon Cowell white then these aren’t the strips for you.
