Teddy: Five Great Nappy Creams
Today I would like to talk to you about baby bottoms; because…well, why not? I honestly never would have predicted just how obsessed I’d become with nappy creams, but here we are; I’m writing a list of my favourites and I’m genuinely excited to share my best picks with you. For me, a good nappy cream smells nice, feels good and provides either a soothing quality or an emollient finish. Below you will find my pick of both categories.
The Cowshed Buttery Bottom Balm is more of a butter that provides slip around the bum so nothing gets stuck. It’s a very oily product so you need to give it a bit of a shake before use, but it provides relatively decent value as you only need a teeny tiny amount. This is the sort of product I’d recommend using if your baby’s bum is free from rash and you want to keep it that way. It’s £10.50 here – link. The Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter is something I added to a recent Ocado delivery as I thought it might match the Waitrose wipes which are vanilla scented and smell yummy. Thankfully it does and to me it has a bit of a Christmassy Eggnog smell to it which is strangely appealing! As with the Cowshed balm, this is a butter that you’d use on rash-free bums, but the downside of this is that it’s in a tub which means you have to stick your finger in. Apart from that, it’s lovely and very cheap at just £2.89 for a 125ml tub here – link.
Now onto the slightly more heavy duty nappy creams, which are better for bums that are suffering from nappy rash. The Love Boo Soothing Bottom Butter is my all-time favourite as it’s beautifully fragranced whilst doing a similar job to Sudocrem (Teddy’s skin didn’t react well to Sudocream) by creating a barrier which allows the rash to heal. This offering from Love Boo works extremely fast at removing nappy rash – think hours rather than days – so it’s the one I’d recommend if your bub is having a hard time. It’s here – link – for £8.99. The Weleda White Mallow Nappy Change Cream is almost as good as the Love Boo version and it’s very similar in consistency. I would recommend the Weleda one if you don’t like too strong a scent as it’s completely neutral, however, it’s slightly runnier than the Love Boo one so it isn’t as good. Having said that, it’s much more widely available so it’s a good choice if you’re looking to find something in a hurry. It’s £8.95 in Boots here – link. Lastly we come to the luxury one of the bunch, which is really for the baby who has everything…it’s the TEN Baby Protective Diaper Cream which is the thinnest of the three in this paragraph and it’s also the most expensive. If you don’t mind spending a few bob then this works really well as both a barrier and a rash-treater, plus there is something rather lovely about using such an expensive brand on your baby (it’s the “Because I’m worth it” approach I fear) but it isn’t essential, and the aforementioned products are just as good, some even better.
