Woodwick Fireside Candle

First of all, happy Halloween everyone! During this time of year I find there's nothing better than putting on a cozy jumper, sticking on a scary movie and eating all the chocolate that's meant for trick or treaters. In order to create that spooky atmosphere, I believe a candle is necessary and nothing is more fitting than my Woodwick Fireside Candle.

If you've never come across a Woodwick candle, they're a little bit different than your average candle. As the name might suggest, the wick is actually made out of organic wood which crackles when it burns. It basically simulates the sound of a crackling fireplace to create a really cosy atmosphere.

Now these come in quite a few scents but the one I picked up was the Fireside candle. This is basically a blend of Amber, Vetiver and Musk which creates a very woody, bonfire like scent so it's perfect for this time of year. Compared to other candles I've tried, I'd say it's very close to the Bath & Body Works Leaves candle which I tried a couple of years ago, however the Woodwick version is much easier to get hold of in the UK. The scent is very powerful so I feel this candle will last quite a long time.

When I first tried the candle, I was actually a little bit scared. Compared to other candles, the wick has a much more aggressive flame so I felt that it required much more supervision. I think all candles should require the same level of safety measures but I would say it's a lot more important to keep the wick trimmed on this one. To be safe, keep it away from drafts, trim the wick and you should be fine.

Once I'd used it a couple of times I felt a lot more at ease, it's just something a little different to get used to. Overall I think this is a great candle for the season, especially with bonfire night coming up. If you're interested in getting it for yourself, you can pick up the Woodwick Fireside Large 22oz Jar from Ebay for £16.49.
