I Want What She’s Wearing: Monochrome

Monochromatic, by definition means “having or consisting of one color or hue” or “lacking variety, creativity, or excitement : colorless” (thanks Merriam-Webster.com). In general, this would typically be followed with the notion of being boring or a proverbial snooze-fest. Well, you can feel free to cease these thoughts right here and now because we here at oliviapalermo.com are here to prove otherwise. To us, having the finesse and savior-faire to not only pull-off a monochromatic look but to stand out and cause heads to turn is something everyone should specialize in, and we’ve got three examples to help you do just that.

For instance, Olivia proves this is possible in her most recent photo-shoot with photographer Phill Taylor (pictured above). Using interesting shapes (like her asymmetrical skirt), combining a variety of textures (a tweed Miss Dior bag and a chiffon jacket) in a multi-tonal color story adds an entirely new dimension to the idea of a monochromatic ensemble. By using this as inspiration for our three alternative styles; we’ve pulled together looks with alternating silhouettes, standout (but not overwhelming) prints and a variety of colorful shades to give each look a consistent depth, relevance and overall personal style twist that makes each look all their own.
