Runway Review: Joseph Spring 2015

Masculine sportswear, oversized boyfriend shapes and a hint of Japanese minimalism were the focus for Joseph and their take on spring/summer 2015. In a location that provided quite the perfect fit (the industrial Farmiloe Building) their London Fashion Week foray took us through a journey of proportion play, contrasting textures ranging from luxe to selvedge and many different moods.

Beginning with utilitarian khaki sportswear, moving through to the use of Japanese denim, a constant was the intelligent but nonchalant use of layering – typically featuring another identical top knotted around the waist. The trend continued in to knitwear, playing with the proportion of all-black and all-white maxi and midi dresses. The natural textures were complemented by a pared down, basic palette, only becoming more dramatic in the concluding outfits. A 3D effect, outsize yarn made for a fitting all-over-print, whilst a murky tan leather dress, with a racer back is a must-have transitional piece for next year.
