Runway Review: Celine Spring 2015

Phoebe Philo has that special know-how that makes fashion move on. Céline’s creative director is chic in a french way but sleek and deeply modern in an english way.

The show started with Kate Bush’s iconic song “This Woman’s Work”. In fact, the singer herself inspired designer Phoebe Philo and converted her hard work into a collection that every women would buy: knitwear dresses, tunic tops and shift dresses that were animated by bands of fabric waving at the sides. Tops were long with unusual scooped sides that made them visually striking. Then came high-waisted, flared trousers with contrasting stitching along their seams. Colour blocks in Black and White.

And suddenly, for the first time in her Céline life, Philo added flowers to her collections. Silk dresses made an appearance on the runway printed wih deep red roses and some yellow and black. We are sure that after the show, the wait list for them and for the new leather bracelet bag, plus a few fantastic coats, adorned with cow bells as belts, must be a mile long now.
