Thailand Part 1: The Imm Fushion Hotel

We’re back from our weekend getaway to Thailand! Expect at least five posts from this trip because we were always on the go and saw a lot. We visited 4 different cities in 4 days and saw 4 different landscapes that Thailand has to offer.

We arrived in Thailand on Thursday night at 11:30pm and had no map to our hotel and had to talk to a few different cab drivers before we could find one that knew where the Imm Fusion hotel was. Language was a HUGE barrier in Thailand. If we go again we know to come equipped with maps to show cab drivers. The other obstacle we had was not knowing where we would be staying from night to night so we couldn’t plan ahead in that way.

We were cheated once by a cab driver (almost twice). You get cheated when they set a price to your destination. They tell you it’s very far and charge a high amount. In reality, it may not be very far at all (like in our case). Other than that one incident, we always caught metered cabs and if you ever go there I suggest you do the same. The cab rides were only around 50 cents each so we never took public transit (which really sucked anyways) except when we took large buses or mini-vans to other cities.

The Imm Fushion was a great hotel for our first night. We left early in the morning but had a relaxing sleep and delicious breakfast before heading out to the floating market in Ampawa the next morning.

The service was amazing and it cost only around $25 for the night.

A couple of nights in to the trip we thought we’d splurge (on a $40 hotel night) at a four star hotel (because the cost of hotels are really cheap in Thailand) and had the WORST service I’ve ever had, were ignored, walked out on by the hotel helper when we needed something, and spoke to like the scum of the earth. The other nights we stayed at cheap places and had the sweetest people serving us. The guest reviews on Trip Advisor are a great way to know ahead of time what you are getting into. We didn’t check them for the four star hotel.

Anyways, tomorrow I’ll have our visit to the floating market in Ampawa ready for you here on the blog so see you then!
