Laid-Back Summer

Summer is beginning to take fold in New York City…slowly but surely. To gear up for the hot summer, lighter makeup is a must! BB Cream and some basic eye shadow to highlight the eyes are two simple must-haves for a laid-back summer :).

Big thanks to Christina for sending me products from her line: Christina Choi Cosmetics.

Christina Choi Cosmetics BB Cream (via)

Pros

-The Shade “Light” has a yellow undertone very suitable for light to medium Asian skin tone.

-No gray undercask that is sometimes found in other BB brands.

-Very moisturizing.

-Has spf 30.

-Good to use for a ‘natural’ look.

Cons

-Not sure if it’s because of the ingredients or because it has a large amount of spf, but the product seems more on the moisturizing oily side compared to other bb creams I’ve used in the past.

-Should use powder to set the bb cream to avoid looking too oily/shiny.

-Must blot regularly if you use this product.

Blends magically into my skin

Before: Bare face. Only applied some moisturizer here beforehand and a bit of the bb cream onto my cheek to demonstrate.

Before: I have some genetic spots near my cheeks…(not sure what else to call them)

After: Skin complexion looks more even. Coverage is light and very natural looking. (My spots are still slightly visible which I don’t mind since they are part of ‘me’.)

Overall, I like how natural-looking the finish of this product is. The shade blends well into my natural skin tone and the coverage is buildable. Since it’s summer and my skin has been decent lately, I don’t feel the need to use much product which is great because it cuts down on time applying makeup! It doesn’t leave a gray ghostly appearance. It’s really moisturizing. I would say this product works best for those with dry skin or combination skin (like myself). I wouldn’t recommend this product to people with naturally oily skin.

The brown ‘Namu’ eye shadow is a great shade with a slight shimmer for everyday wear. It’s also quite pigmented. (Sorry, no photo of me with the eye shadow above. Will try to take one next time. Didn’t feel like wearing makeup this weekend to be honest.)
