Hello my beautiful friends! Before I dive into this month’s theme, please wish Joyce a HAPPY 23rd BIRTHDAY!!!! Her birthday was yesterday (Feb 2!) Joyce~ I hope you have an amazing year ahead of you full of wisdom, love, and adventure! ^_^
Joyce and I decided to kick off February as The Little Things Matter (on your face!) month! This month we will be blogging about things that may not seem like a big deal but actually make a HUGE difference!
Maximize your lash potential!
Today I will be talking about the power of…*drumrolls* EYELASHES and everything related to enhancing them! I hope this post will be useful to the majority of Asian gals (or dudes) who have “flat” eyelashes like me!
In this post: an eyelash tutorial, product reviews/recommendations, the power of false lashes, and more
Do you have any tips or products you recommend for eyelashes ?
In mainstream culture, long eyelashes are considered a feminine feature. Virtually all female celebrities and models use mascara, eyelash extensions, or false lashes. Of course there are people who are born with amazing lashes, but the majority of us are not. The length and curl of your lashes not only make you look more feminine, but also make you look more awake and alert. Curled eyelashes open up the eye. False lashes can even change the shape of your eyes! So….yeah, eyelashes are really important!
dem false lashes! definitely opens up her eyes!
Out of the 3 mascaras I currently own, I recommend Maybelline Megaplush especially if your typical mascara is too “heavy” for your lashes (happens a lot with shorter, flat lashes). Other mascaras I recommend: drugstore, sephora
Maybelline Volum’ Express The MegaPlush Waterproof Mascara (Very Black)
If you want SUPER bold , super DRAMATIC lashes……...these are not for you. However, this is one of my favorite mascaras for the everyday look. This mascara holds up the curl! It’s also a drugstore brand so it’s affordable. It also coats virtually all my eyelashes. It isn’t the most “waterproof” mascara that I have tried but it’s good enough for me, living where I live. However, if I were to spend a summer in Taiwan again, I would probably not use this.
I know I just posted a makeup tutorial that relied heavily on the eyelashes. Some of you guys complimented my lashes (oh, stop it~!) so today I will be focusing on how to get that curl with an eyelash curler mascara!
I apologize for the weird lighting/quality….working on it!
Remember: BE GENTLE TO YOUR LASHES!!!! The eyelash curler is a tool, not a weapon!

Buxom Lashliner
Buxom Lashliner: A lash line enhancing and conditioning treatment. This may look like just a liner, but it’s also a thickening and conditioning treatment that instantly takes the appearance of your lashes from hardly any to very many (source).
I would have taken a photo of the one I own but it’s used and kinda nasty looking! hehe. Anyway. If you are skeptical about the reviews on Sephora, I am here to tell you that they’re right: IT WORKS! Obviously don’t expect a HUGE difference but there is a noticeable difference before and after use *takes about a month). Thanks to genetic lotto, I already have long eyelashes (for Asians) but this helps. I first used it about 3 years ago. The only downside about this is that it leaks and fades (on your eyes) so keep that in mind.
My eyes with crazayyyy false lashes. Very dramatic, no? For reference, I am wearing Dolly Wink #1
False lashes: Falsies can drastically change the shape of your eye…especially with those crazy ones those damn Asians make! HAHA jk :B They’re fun and all but I do not recommend relying on the artificial looking ones like the ones I am wearing above. However, there are more natural looking lashes! Unfortunately, I have not tried those so…if you have any you recommend, leave it in the comments below!
I hope you find this post useful ^_^ Until next time!
Keep in Touch!
