Breaking the rules: Curves meet Dungarees

I was watching a fashion segment recently which showcased different looks of numerous dungaree styles. It finished by a woman commenting on how girls with curves, or plus sizes would find this trend unflattering, recommending that we should shy away from it altogether. Naturally this annoyed me and so I thought I would challenge this here through this outfit post.

Like many girls out there I don't think I've worn dungarees since I was a kid. I had a look at a number of places with various styles but I wanted something with a nice selection in sizes for readers. My venture led me to Primark/ Penneys.
I had a strong idea of what I was hoping to find. I opted for a slightly faded look with ripped detail which instantly gives a contemporary vibe. There is a number of tops you can pair with this, even add a cute shirt tied in a knot at the front. Today however I wanted to keep things simple. A long sleeved, round neck, fitted vest gave some shape as the front panel of the dungarees is quite flat and shapeless. On a plus note though, this 'flatness' is actually ideal for bigger sizes and apple shapes if you tend to keep weight mainly in your tummy area, because it give the illusion of a longer and flatter torsoe. Happy days!

For comfort factor, I was so surprised. This would have to be the most comfortable item I have bought in months! I embraced a colour popping satchel to bring some Spring vibes into my steps which I'm quite pleased with as a bargain find for €8! To keep the look modern, open toe sandals worked perfectly. If you wanted more of a casual feel a pair of converse would be ideal. The shape of the leg on this denim find is great as you can turn it up as much as you please. If sporting runners is to your tastbuds then I would roll them up enough to see just a little skin around your ankles.

So ladies is this something you would consider? Would this be a total no-no for you? Do you agree with me that curvy girls can wear dungarees? I would love to hear your feedback as to what you think about the look.
