What's was my beauty bag for the sun!

Whether you live in a hot climate or perhaps you will be travelling somewhere soon, these products I've listed should be of benefit. As I was only away for the week I aimed to bring as many travel sized items as possible to make room for some of my other essentials which I couldn't size down. There is a more of an emphasis on hair care but for anyone with dry skin you will see my two must have skin saviours.

These are my top two skin care essentials. After two days in Spain I had VERY dry skin so my usual Vichy Idealia moisturiser was not strong enough on some days. I bought a gift set of Vichy around Christmas which had lots of travel sized items including this gem - Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light moisturiser. Don't let the size fool you, you could get about two weeks worth of moisturizer out of it so I cannot recommend it more for a trip away.

Beside this is my Purete Thermale by Vichy cleanser that I have been using for the last while. Prior to Christmas I was using La Roche Posay's Physiological Cleansing Gel which is for all skin types. It is great for sensitive skin but personally I needed something with more hydration in it. After cleansing I just use water spray to close my pores followed by the Vichy Moisturizer mentioned in the latter.

As a highlighted blonde I try my best to pay close attention to the condition of my hair. When you add sun to the equation, you need to up your game and ensure you double your average routine. The main reason for this is because the sun can either turn bleached hair white or a Fanta orange colour. Which we really do not want! :)


To combat this try to cover your hair with a hat during the day. I know this isn't ideal for everyone especially if you want to get some tan on your face, so the other option would be to apply a hair mask to dry or slightly damp hair and tie it into a light plait. After an hour or two if you take out the plait, you will have a lovely beach babe waved effect whilst also conditioning and protecting the hair fibres.

My go to mask at the moment is K-Pak Deep Reconstructor from Joico ( which smells incredible by the way), this is a higher end product on the hair mask scene retailing at €25/£20 but your hair reaps all the benefits.
The Schwarzkopf Gliss repair mask is around €5/£4, a lower end item but still good. It's important to mix up your products to give your hair something different so Gliss is a nice lighter mask just to apply freely and for the price you won't be too concerned if you have to leave it behind come packing day on your way home.

My top tip when it comes to hair masks try to avoid products that have colouring such as reds, oranges, or yellows. This sticks to the hair and can also cause it to turn a strange colour. Always check the contents before hand to ensure it is white or a clear colour that will not cause any colour transfer.

My mini products during this trip were brilliant. The first product is a Tony and Guy moisturising conditioner which you will get about two washes out of if you have medium to long hair, and around 3 washes for those with shorter hair. It rehydrates hair helping to battle frizz which happens so easily in the sun.
Note: When travelling to a different country you might notice a difference in water, some waters are harder than others which will also contribute greatly to good and bad hair days!

Carmex is my lip essential wherever I go. It has a glossy finish to it so you can wear it day or night. If this isn't available then Cicaplast from La Roche Posay is the next best thing.

L'Oreal Elnett Normal Strength is perfect for an evening out to combat flyaway hairs. I would always try avoid using hairspray during the day in the heat as this is one factor which can turn blonde hair orange. If you have used it on an evening and are sunbathing the next day just brush it out gently and you will be fine.

Batiste Original travel dry shampoo is a great pick me up for hair ( I bring this everywhere even if I'm working in big cities). You can purchase this in a majority of airports or in Boots travel section. Let's say you have washed your hair that morning and you feel it is looking a bit greasy by later that evening, washing it again will lead to more damage to your hair but a few sprays of this and you will have fresh looking locks in seconds. ( P.S - If you want more volume to your hair, spray extra to the roots around your crown area) .

Boots Soltan sun spray for hair is an item I came across last week in Boots. The point of it is to help prevent colour fade and to ensure your scalp doesn't get burnt. A burnt scalp can weaken hair follicles and lead to hair loss, so its good to take precaution.
