EDUARD VAN BEINUM and the Cleveland Orchestra

CARL MARIA VON WEBER Overture to "Der Freischütz" MAURICE RAVEL Rhapsodie Espagnole HECTOR BERLIOZ Symphonie Fantastique, Op. 14 Cleveland Orchestra EDUARD VAN BEINUM, conductor Recorded 22 December 1955
Eduard van Beinum made his first guest appearance in the United States with the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1954 and took up the reigns of the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1956 but AFAIK this was his only appearance with the Cleveland Orchestra. Enthusiastic applause follows each composition but, sadly, no commentary was included on the original source material. The early stereo sound is quite good for the period which is fortunate since the Clevelanders play very well.
