{things i wore} wrap dress

The Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress–it's the only piece of iconic fashion that my mother ever mentioned to me growing up. She bought hers (with a blue tulip pattern) for $100 in New York in the seventies and wore it "until it fell apart." I loved the mythology of it all, so for as long as I could remember I wanted one of my own. This one fit the bill nicely: it's the T72 style, one modeled after the original vintage cut (I love the throwback cuff and collar details), in an old now-reissued pattern ("chain link"). It truly wears like a dream, form-fitting, flattering, and as comfortably chic as my mother described it–making it the perfect look for my birthday brunch this past weekend.
