LACOSC’s 1st Annual Fundraiser and Scholarship Gala *Recap*

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the LACOSC’s 1st Annual Fundraiser and Scholarship Gala. Distinguished leaders of the Liberian and international community attended as well as Liberian community members from the Southern California and Northern California. The program featured a number of performances and speeches. The featured special guest Hon. Jeremiah C. Sulunteh–the Ambassador of Liberia to the USA, Mexico and Canada gave a compelling key note address. He mentioned ways that Liberians and non-Liberians alike could get involved with revitalization efforts. I found his speech engaging and am so glad I had the opportunity to attend.

The event was held on Saturday April 5th, 2014 at in one of the luxurious ballrooms at “The Reef, on the Water” in Long Beach California. Guests snapped photos against the stunning backdrop of the docks and the city lights. An outside bar for the event and red carpet photo call area contributed to the glamourous nature of the event.

I had the honor of partnering the Ambassador in the grand march, a traditional march that is a fixture at formal Liberian events. It is fun, energetic and serves as a way for events to usher in the dance segment of the night. I am also thankful a few of my friends were on hand to lend their support to the cause. Thank you Vannette, Natosha and Tiffany! Check out a sneak peek from their instagram accounts below:

More photos from the event will be available once the LACOSC website launches–this July 26th!
