When Good Ideas Go Bad

I’ve been creating more embroidery items from patterns I make myself. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. The picture below is from an idea that I like, but didn’t exactly turn out the way I envisioned it.

The felt flowers on the left are Forget Me Nots, which is a great flower to pay tribute to a best friend. I think that this could be improved in a couple of different ways. One way would be to add more flowers, add some leaves, and add stems. Another way could be to add twice as many flowers to what’s there already. Or maybe even three times as many.

I’m going to keep trying, and I now have a Moleskin sketchbook I keep with me at all times in order to record my ideas. If anyone out there knows how to take a drawing, and making into a digitized version so that I could sell my patterns (in addition to selling my finished pieces), I’d appreciate knowing how to do that.

And did you catch what I said about selling my finished pieces? Well…I DID IT! I opened my own Etsy shop! You can find me at RandomActsofAmy. I’d greatly appreciate it if you would pass my shop along to your family and friends.

What do you do when you have a project that doesn’t quite turn out the way you think it should?
