TFC: Big Girl Adventures

I remember as a little girl, writing in my diary every night about my daily adventures. This might include catching minnows in the creek with my little sister and brother, getting a new nail polish color, or venting about getting a spanking for not cleaning my room. When I think about those nights, I mostly remember the back of my diary where kept pictures (usually drawn) of my latest crush, my name written with their last names, the name of our children and the age that I wanted to be married: 25.

I’m turning 26 in April and I am not married, but I am moving into office space in midtown Manhattan on Monday. As a Freelance Publicist, I usually hop around from coffee shops to communal working hubs in the city, so it’s really exciting to have my own space! This marks a major turning point in my career and I am beyond ecstatic. Kinda like this…

My career in PR started at an agency a few years ago and I’ve been working independently for the past two years. I now have a number of awesome clients and love working with them all! My hours are primarily 6:30am-11pm. Although that might sound draining, I love every bit of my day! Setting my own schedule and scoring big hits for my clients gets me very excited.

Growing up as a hopeless romantic, I thought I had the best plan set out for me and I’d be married with kids by now – because that’s all that mattered. It’s amazing how life happens and everything falls into place as it should be. My faith in Jesus Christ has grown exponentially during this journey. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Him and the people that He has placed in my life.

Now I write in my journal about my adventures in this concrete jungle as an Independent Publicist and starting my own business. I giggle now at those precious childhood ideas of where I thought I “should be” by now.
