Selected works by Stephanie Noritz Stephanie Noritz is a New York - based photographer depicting the sense of nostalgia and curiosity that focuses her camera on youth, documenting phases of transition and flux. Photographed in various parks downtown and on Go Skateboarding Day in NYC, the portraits are an intimate document of her brief encounters with kids training with real passion. "Skateboarders is an ongoing project documenting the kids that inhabit skate parks in New York City and Toronto. In football, I was drawn to the physicality and camaraderie between the boys. Working together as a pack, their practices mimic organized militant style work ethic, pushing each other to become better players and young men. I was particularly interested in capturing those moments of energy and movement between the players and the sense of heroism on the field, as they adjust to their newly acquired independence as young men ready to embark into adulthood. Through an engagement with qualities of light, space and my subject’s gaze, I hope to imbue my images with a quiet reverence for moments of intensity and pause.
