Wouter le Duc: Ending Stories

Ending Stories by Wouter le Duc Wouter le Duc is a Dutch photographer currently living and working in The Netherlands. He tells stories about eccentric people situated on the periphery of society by choice or chance. Wouter's photography is of both fiction and non-fiction, which are inspired by a great curiosity in people, current affairs, personal experiences and historical characters. At the very core of his subjects are questions about people in general: Where did they come from, how are they fulfilling their lives and where will they go from here. They are also posed in his project where he pictured crucial questions of the humanity in a very personal way. "At the beginning of 2012 my mom told me she was preparing for the end of times. According to her this would take place on the 21st of december 2012, as predicted by the Mayan calendar. I told her that I didn't want to talk about it. After six months I still could not understand her ways of thinking, so I decided to try and comprehend this through aphotography project. In this project I investigate not only my mother or the end of the Mayan calendar. I focus on different individuals and groups of people from different spiritual, religious and practical movements. They all share the conviction that the end of the world as we know it is coming." Words: Wouter le Duc, Thisispaper Photography: Wouter le Duc
