Wenxin Zhang: Goodnight stories

Goodnight stories by Wenxin Zhang Wenxin Zhang is California-based writer and photographer, living and working in San Francisco. Zhang is always redefining her reality. In her writings and photography, she describes her experiences of growing up in China, her current life in San Francisco, and her personal relationships—in a voice that is melancholic and tranquil. 

Her work has exhibited widely in United States and China. Goodnight Stories is a narrative photo project taken by photographer Wenxin Zhang when she was a new comer in San Francisco in 2012. Zhang found strangers who have alternative housing conditions through craigslist and visited them alone with mutual trust. Embedded with the photographer’s insecurity towards adult world, Zhang has created a bittersweet fairy tale that explores the diversity of habitat choices, and the boundary between reality and fantasy.
