Andrew Querner: Lone Star

Lone Star by Andrew Querner Andrew Querner is documentary and portrait photographer who lives in Vancouver, Canada. In his project he captures the depth of people's experience, very often filled with basic problems and solitude. However what we find in Andrew's photography is huge amount of hope, and this probably is his greatest talent. "Universal Outreach Foundation is a Canadian humanitarian organization working to serve vulnerable children and their communities in Liberia, West Africa. In the winter of 2014 we collaborated to make a photographic document that not only recorded aspects of their core mission in the areas of childhood education and economic development, but considered less obviously photographable notions that contribute to the Liberian identity. In so much as this can be approached by a Canadian photographer, with no previous connection to Liberia outside of Western media portrayals, Lone Star houses everyday scenes interrupted by moments of dissonance and tension consistent with my experience on the ground.
