Atelier Dyakova: ROTH Bar&Grill

Atelier Dyakova for ROTH Bar&GrillThe Roth Bar & Grill, a part of the new Hauser & Wirth gallery in Somerset, combines gastronomy with contemporary art, serving honest, simple and seasonal food. The restaurant, designed by Luis Laplace, has at its core a site-specific bar created by long-term friends of Hauser & Wirth, Björn and Oddur Roth, the son and grandson of the late artist Dieter Roth. Works on show in the dining area range from Henry Moore’s fine drawing of lobster claws to vibrant neon chandeliers by the late Jason Rhoades, which hang from the ceiling illuminating the dining area. No wonder that when it came to brand identity for this unique space namely Atelier Dyakova was commissioned to create the concept. Atelier Dyakova is a multi-disciplinary, independent studio, that was created by Sonya Dyakova, a Russian graphic designer based in London. She is also the Art Director of frieze magazine, and Frieze Masters magazine. Her approach is strongly rooted in conceptual and tactile details, as well as typographic experimentation developed through research. Thus for Roth Bar&Grill A Sonya Dyakova of Atelier Dyakova has brought her typeface and branding-identity skills to bear, with reference to the vernacular aesthetics and history of the buildings and created strong visual language that is clean and minimalistic yet modern and eye-catching.
