Bernardo Bader Architects: Haus Kaltschmieden

Haus Kaltschmieden by Bernardo Bader Architects It’s no wonder that this long, simple house designed by Bernardo Bader Architects appears to be a modern shed - it's located in the area where agriculture defines the landscape. Before being redesigned by Bernardo Bader Team, the old farming house has been disfigured by several alterations over the years. Due to the house’s fragile construction, its condition deteriorated. The main aim of the design was to create a house that blends in with the surrounding. „The complete concept tries to accommodate all the users’ contentment in its simple volume, who live very individualistic mainly with collected and predominantly self-made things. The universal connection between nature, region, material, craftsmanship and collectors' passion define the architecture of the house,” say the architects. It may seem unspectacular, but in fact it's a remarkable example of a redesign of farming architecture that escapes the superficial folk-like style. Words: Thisispaper Photography: Adolf Bereuter
