LIVE: My Wish for 2012

Hello hello, welcome to the New Year! I can't believe it's 2012 already. I'm really looking forward to this year, I feel that last year was about laying foundations and taking a deeper look into myself and a lot of personal development, and this will be the year when I start to shine.

If you don't know I moved over to London from South Africa on the 16th of January 2011. I had just graduated and finished a really amazing internship at one of the top advertising agencies in South Africa and came here feeling confident and really positive that I would be able to conquer the world. One year, over 200 job applications (I am not even exaggerating, you can check my inbox) a stint at a dodgy Beauty Salon and two internships later, I am still looking to conquer the world. While the job market is looking worse every minute I think the most important thing I have learnt is to learn from rejection and never take it personally, but also to always keep positive. There have been times when I have just wanted to get on the first flight home and there have also been days when I haven't left my bed, too despondent to do anything and that is normal I think. What else can you do, you need to embrace your emotions. What is important though is to rise up and keep going. There is a reason that everything happens. Whatever you are doing now is setting you up to achieve something or take you down a certain path - one which you may have never even considered, but could be what is ultimately right for you.

I guess what I want people to get out of this is just one thing: Never give up! The job market is point blank shit at the moment and I'm sure a lot of graduates are really feeling really unsure of themselves and their futures, you are not alone though, there are so many people in the same position as you are. Keep trying, don't take it personally and stay strong! My wish is that everyone who works hard for it, achieves success this year!

Xx
