When we were little we used to get into our mothers makeup bags and sure enough, she’d always have it filled with Almay products. We distinctly remember their branding and packaging and definitely remember that blue eyeshadow that we stole from our mom because we thought was just the. coolest. thing. ever. Since then we’ve always associated Almay with a more… mature feel, you could say, but as of Tuesday they have officially changed that for us. On Tuesday night we attended the #almaypretty event in Toronto where they showcased their new branding and some seriously amazing products – all of which we got to preview first hand!

The event was decorated just beautifully with vintage tea cups everywhere, a tea station, little sweets at every table and of course LOTS of makeup! We’ve highlighted some of our must have products below, but we would recommend all of the products we got to try! If you can’t justify buying all of your makeup products at high end counters then Almay is a great option in terms of quality and selection.

We started at the Liquid Lip Balm station (naturally) where we got to choose one of our favourite lip balms to take home. After using our balm for a few days we can officially say we are obsessed! This balm combines a beautiful colour (a total of 9 to choose from) with a glossy finish and is infused with ultra-moisturizing ingredients like avocado oil. You could wear this all day without your lips drying out. These will be available in July at drug and mass retailers nation wide and will retail for $8.95 each. Honestly – these are a must buy!

Two other products that we have to mention are Almay’s Smart Shade CC Cream and Powder Bronzer – these are both new products for Almay and blew us away. We thought we were sold on the whole BB craze, but we have officially converted to CC cream. CC (complexion corrector) cream not only diminishes the appearance of imperfections but actually improves the clarity of your skin over time. This cream is to die for – not greasy at all and leaves a velvety smooth finish on your face. We’ve been pairing the CC cream with the Powder bronzer the last few days and are loving the results! This buildable bronzer leaves a hint of luminosity and leaves you with a perfect glow – no orange look at all! Both of these products will be available in June at drug and mass retailers nation wide – the CC cream retailing at just $16.95!

We also got to take a look at their new makeup removers and intense i-color collections. We both chose the gentle makeup remover as we both have very sensitive skin and have trouble with oily removers, but so far, so good! Their intense i-color collection was the only thing that we thought we might not be raving about, but let us tell you what pairing the right eye shadow, liner and mascara can do. The i-color collection takes the guesswork out of shade selection and application as Almay pairs all of these perfectly for your eye shade. The shades are expertly coordinated an selected to complement and pop the natural eye colour. We approve and have actually notificed a difference in our look!
