YES! Christmas

Wowweee, Christmas is a commin' and I bloody love Christmas. We got firmly in the spirit with a trip to Columbia Road flower market last weekend and immersed ourselves in wreaths, berries and other yuletide foliage; Ilex berries are my fave!

We took along our own live Christmas elf, who mainly slept. He loves lights so I'm hoping he gets a bit more excited when he sees the Christmas tree.

We also bought the most beautiful Christmas wreath. It is our second wreath as I had also made one myself in a bid to get crafty. I set off round Harlesden looking for suitable foliage or a flower shop but came back empty handed, Harlesden, it seems, is not well catered for in the plant department. Undeterred, I headed for the 99p shop where I procured a number of fake poinsettias, a fake wreath and some glittery fir cones. The resulting wreath is not particularly pretty and next to the Columbia Road one, it's a bit of an embarrassment but it is still jolly festive!

(beautiful wreath and snoozing elf) The only problem is where to put my two wreaths? We don't have door knocker yet so I can't hang them on the front door. I have laid the Columbia Road one on the coffee table where I can admire it as Joseph and I curl up and watch TV whist drinking tea and eating biscuits. This is a new favourite maternity leave pastime now it's got chilly outside!

I'm having more trouble placing the fake wreath, it's just a little too... fake. Maybe by clustering it with everything else that's Christmassy and red it will look good...

The berries are on the mantelpiece looking magnificent, but over all I'd say that our Christmas decorations are currently a little underwhelming! Well that is all set to change, tonight is Christmas Tree Night and we are going to get a real biggun this year.

I've also got another chair finished, phew! It's a real classic spoke framed 1950's piece which is upholstered in Designers Guild fab vegetable dyed linen. It's chunky and lovely and comfortable. It also looks great in my sitting room so I'm a bit sad to give it a new home. Here are some pics!
