{Glam} Hibernation

This winter I’ve already been preemptively planning my winter hibernation, and I’m taking it very seriously. Last night I met up with two of my girlfriends and spilled my strategy over spiked hot chocolate.

Step 1: Choose appearances carefully based on a simple yes or no checklist. Does it require walking more than 10 blocks? Meh. Is there parking? Let’s talk. Is it sub 20 degrees with a 10 degrees windchill? Oh lawd, rain snow check. Will there be food? Amen! (I think you are catching on.)

Step 2: Wear as many layers as humanly possible. Switch your stilettos to booties and double-up on your socks! Slip on an undershirt, find your favorite gloves, and pile on your most obnoxious (but incredibly vogue) blanket scarf. Your extremities will thank you.

Step 3: Wear the jacket. Yes, your “winter” jacket that you dread wearing because once you do, you are forced to admit to yourself that it is indeed cold enough to be winter. I feel your pain, but these coats are our saviors as they are that final layer that keep us warm for the next five months.

This step I have tried putting off as much as possible; first wearing a letterman jacket, then switching to the sweatshirt under my leather jacket look. (My denim jacket didn’t even make it to November.) Before I switch completely to my peacoat and puffer jackets, my latest attempt is a bit of faux fur. I spotted this feature find at TJMaxx, and it was quite the steal. Faux fur was one of my favorite trends last winter and I am more than happy to bring back this cozy style once more.
