Mini Quilt Swap- Mega Fun! Let’s get ready to swap

Let’s Get Ready to Swap! Mini Quilts, Mega Fun

I don’t know about you, but I love to complete smaller-scale sewing projects during these busy days of summer. A small project helps me beat the heat and keep my mind occupied without taking up too much of what little time I have. (Plus, this isn’t the time of year when I want to be snuggled under a bed-sized quilt, hand stitching the binding!)

Would you like to join me in a mini-scale project this month? I hope so, because it’s time for another Sewing Loft Swap! This time, we’re swapping Mini Quilts to be used as wall hangings/decor.

Mini Quilts Mega Fun Swap

Mini Quilt Swap Timeline:

  • Sign ups open July 10
  • Deadline to sign up: July 24
  • You have mail! You’ll recieve your swap partner by July 30
  • Ship your packages by August 13

Mini Quilt Swap Guidelines:

  • This will be a secret swap, so Sally Seamstress will make a quilt for Nancy Notions who will in turn make a quilt for Teresa Thimble, and so on.
  • This swap will be open to all skill levels – as long as you can make a mini quilt, you can join!
  • Read our post on Swap Etiquette and make sure to follow those guidelines for any swap you participate in, including this one.
  • When you sign up, we’ll ask you for your Flickr ID so that the person sending you a package can find out what you like. We’ll also show you how to make a Flickr mosaic to show off some of your favorite quilt styles.
  • Please keep the deadline for shipping in mind when you sign up. If at all possible, send out your package a little early; but whatever you do, don’t be late. It isn’t fair to your swap recipient.
  • We will be making mini quilts that will function as home decor/wall art. The size is up to you, but as a general guideline, a “mini quilt” is defined as one that is not larger than 24” on either side.
  • Since these quilts will be used as art, anything goes – art quilts, embroidery, painting on the fabric, etc.!
  • We’ll be asking you to post pictures on Flickr when you receive your quilt swap package, as a way to show off the hard work your swap spoiler put into this project and to express your thanks.

Between now and the shipping deadline, we’ll show you where to sign up for the Flickr pool, round-up tutorials for mini quilts and techniques, and give ideas for ways to package your swap gifts. So don’t worry – even if you’ve never swapped before, we’ve got you covered!

So, who’s ready to swap? Come back later this week for the sign ups!
