Honeymoon Eats

Alex and I set off for our honeymoon in Charleston, SC on Monday morning. I obviously took me camera with me and I’ve been snapping a few photos along the way, so I thought I’d share what a day of eats looked like on the road! So here’s a little What I Ate Wednesday recap.

I started the day off with a standard breakfast before we left Richmond. Toast with butter and a little bit of frozen mango. I didn’t take any pictures while I was driving (obviously) but Alex picked up some boiled peanuts from a gas station since neither of us had ever had them before and it’s a very “southern” thing. The verdict? They kind of taste like salty, hot, mush. I can’t say I’ll be buying them again soon, but I certainly got my salty fix for the day week.

Alex and I are trying to see all of the capital buildings, so we made a detour through Columbia. By the time we got there, it was almost 2 o’clock and we were starving. We just happened to drive by a place that sounded really good, the Good Life Cafe. I couldn’t believe what we stumbled upon! Everything was raw & vegan! Alex and I split a “10 vegetable salad” (that literally had 10 different kinds of vegetables in it) and a few vegan tacos with kale salad and fruit. The tacos were made with a”nut meat”, amazing guacamole, and a cashew based “sour cream”. They were really good. Seriously, I wanted to try everything on the menu. Everything was delicious and we even had leftover salad to take with us.

We ate a fairly late dinner since lunch was so late. We’re staying on the beach in Charleston so we decided to grab a bite at a pizza place near by. We went for a caramelized onion & roasted garlic pizza. It was very “heavy” but totally worth it! We had leftovers for the next day. (Good thing our hotel has a fridge!)

After we got back to our room we decided to have glass of wine on the balcony and I stopped by the market to pick up some dark chocolate. Dark chocolate sea salt almonds bar is an amazing combination.

Now we’re headed out the door for a Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga class! Wish us luck!

What are you eating this week?
