On Folegandros

I’m going to make a big call and say that out of all the Greek Islands we visited (Mykonos, Santorini and Crete), Folegandros was the most special. Our timing couldn’t have been better – we arrived in the last week of May when the sun was out in full force but the hoards of tourists had yet to arrive.

What makes Folegandros so incredible is the rocky cliff-faces and untouched beaches which are only accessible by boat. Not to mention the sea was impossibly clear; like swimming in a salt water pool. The island is pretty small, so you can pretty much just turn up and discover it for yourself… But just incase you are planning a visit these a few of my favourite spots.

Stay: Anemomilos Apartments is perched right on the cliffs edge with insane views of the turquoise waters below.

Eat: Eva’s Garden offers up Greek dishes with a modern twist in the most idyllic garden courtyard you could imagine. Think freshly prepared food, wild bougainvillea and beautiful table settings.

Do: The full day boat trip. Of all the islands we visited this trip was both the most affordable and least-touristy. Most of the beaches are only accessible by boat, so this day trip (which you can book in the town centre) is the perfect way to explore these beautifully untouched locations.
