Wax Idols

With music festivals getting underway, we’re crazy excited to rock out to our favorite bands. At the upcoming SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, we definitely won’t be missing Wax Idols performing. We recently caught up with the band’s Heather Fedewa to talk festival life, new places, and of course, shoes!

Is this your first time at SXSW?
For Wax Idols it is. My other band Blasted Canyons went last year.

What’s the best part of playing a huge festival like SXSW?
Seeing friends from all over the world & partying. Otherwise it’s kind of a headache.

What has been your favorite music festival moment?
Watching Carletta Sue Kay perform at SXSW last year. She was WASTED & her performance was so incredible that it made me cry.

Music festivals are nuts. What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen from on stage?
I’ve seen a lot of really bizarre, confusing looking mosh pits & a decent amount of naked people.

What’s on constant rotation on your iPod?
I don’t have an iPod.

Where would your dream tour stop be?
David Lynch’s club SILENCIO in Paris.

What are the places you HAVE to check out at a new place?
I usually try to find the best thrift/antique stores & the oldest graveyard in town.

How do you choose what you’re going to wear on stage?
It depends. Occasionally I put together more theatric outfits for performances. I dress like a bit of a freak every day as it is so I usually just walk on stage wearing whatever I’ve been wearing all day.

Do you prefer to dress it up in heels or keep it casual in a flat you can dance around in?
I ALWAYS wear heels.
