home tour before + after

you might’ve noticed the new blog look? I decided a while back I wanted to convert this blog into a more personal space. I like sharing both my work personal photography so I thought I’d give the blog a new name and design. ;) to celebrate, I’m finaaaalllyyyyy posting our little home tour. I meant to make this post after the 1st month of living here…and well, it’s been about 8 months since we moved in! you don’t know how excited I am because posting this means we’re pretty much finished with the changes we wanted to make. at one point we thought we’d never get the house looking this great. there are still a couple of small projects here and there. we may get to them, we may not. anyways, without further ado, here’s our colorful, humble abode. enjoy!
heh. joob edison sunbathing.
yeah, I know… it’s our bathroom. you probably don’t wanna see it but it looks a million times better than it did! i’ve never been so proud of a bathroom.
clearly I took these photos in january, haha.
what house tour can be complete without a stretchy yawning cat?
okay. I know there have probably already been 1 too many cat photos. :| heh, sorrynotsorry!
you *have* to see the train wreck that was this kitchen before we got ahold of it. keep on scrollin’.
a lot of the antique furniture pieces belong to the owner. she is quite the collector and let us choose what we wanted to stay in the house to use. we kind of hit the renter’s jackpot, huh?
see that magnificent giant of a plant there in the corner? that’s “henry” as our landlord calls him! ha. he had to stay simply because he’s too heavy to move. also, he’s been sitting in the same place by that same window for over 25 years! the landlord asked if we could take care of him….no pressure. >.<
my office gets THE BEST light. ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
down in the ‘before’ images you’ll see a creepy blue/gray dungeon hallway. that was what this looked like before we removed the wallpaper and painted it white! crazy!
we’re so proud of our old yellow bungalow. it was built in the early 1900s and a lot of what’s inside it is original to the home like most of the doors, windows and flooring. it has so much personality, character and positive energy, however, it didn’t look this way overnight. we spent weeks before moving in peeling wallpaper, sanding, painting, etc. the landlord was so kind to let us choose the wall colors and remove all of the wallpapers that had been up for years! she knew it needed some updating. even though this home is just a rental we knew with a little hard work it could look really amazing. it still has a long way to go but looking at these images now makes it all worth it.
here’s a little peak at the front of the house. we’ve done a lot with the flower beds, landscaping and outdoor furniture. it still has a long way to go and so does the backyard!
^^ although I’d rather not post them, a proper ‘before & after’ post just wouldn’t be right without the ‘before’ images! ha. take a look above, if you wish. i’m warnin’ ya….it was pretty gnarly! i’m so glad we were able to see past the mess and realize what it could be.
