Woodland Woggle 2013

Back in April, I set myself a fitness aim to run 5k in an organised event, to read the post click here.

I found a local event called the 'Woodland Woggle' to be held in May and started training. I have never run in an event before, let alone run 5k. I roped Chris into running with me and started to prepare.

About a week before the event I was informed that a farmer had ploughed part of the course which meant the run had been changed from 5k to 6k. I will admit this worried and panicked me, but with the reassurance from Chris, I put on my running shoes and prepard myself up for my new 6k run.

On the day the sun was shining and there was a really good turn out, people of all ages were there to run either the 6k or 10k, the atmosphere was buzzing and I was ready.

Before the race - so so nervous!
The one lap trail race started in the beautiful Hampton estate and after a few hills we entered the woodland into stunning bluebell woods.

To end the run there was a large hill with a descent into a large pine forest back to the finish.

I completed the 6k run in 46 minutes 10 seconds and I am so happy with that time. I did find it hard and had to slow down to a walk in places (some of the hills were big!), but Chris stayed with me and pushed me to the finish.

At the finish line I received my medal and stayed to cheer on others crossing the finish line. I feel proud of myself completing the run and I really enjoyed the whole event, I will definitely do the run again next year and I might even push myself to complete the 10k...
