Foodie “Pink meringues”

Today it’s finally time for a new foodie post. I haven’t done one in ages and I have no idea why! But let me warn you, this isn’t a foodie post in the health department and I’m not responsible when you get addicted to these yummy little snacks too. No just kidding, but this is a snack and not particularly healthy. I’m a big supporter of healthy living but the whole oatmeal/smoothie way of living isn’t my cup of tea. For one because I need almost 2800 calories a day to stay on my current weight (which still is to low) or maybe just because I love my sandwiches and pasta so damn much. Anyway, today it’s time for a simple but delicious little baking recipe. My guilty pleasure, pink meringues!

What do you need?
- 4 egg whites
- 200 grams of granulated sugar
- 2 cocktail sticks
- pink food coloring (of course you can use every color you want)
- kitchen machine, mixer or whisk
- pastry bag
- tablespoon
- oven
- baking tray
- baking paper or mat

Preheat your oven at 100 degrees Celsius. Split the eggs and beat the egg whites in a large bowl. Add the sugar slowly and keep on beating until they are stuff, not dry. Take a little of the mixture between your fingers and make sure it feels smooth, not gritty.

Add the food coloring with the cocktail sticks. Be careful you don’t use too much at once, you can always add a little more, and mix it one last time. When the whole mixture is pink you’re ready for the next step.

Put the mixture in your pastry bag and make little puffs with about two centimeters in between. Go on until you’re baking tray is full or you’re out of mixture. Bake the meringues for about 2 hours or until they’re a little brown and solid.

And here we have my all time favorite snack in a cute pink color. You can also make them in different shapes, sizes and colors like yellow (for easter?) or blue. Be creative! Hope you liked this little recipe and love to hear your favorite guilty pleasure!
