MBFW | Ready to Fish + Vibrant Pakistan spring/summer 2015

I feel a little lost and strange to post this article today. That’s why I want to say something else first. After the horrible MH17 crash last thursday where 295 people lost their lives and even more family and friends lost their loved ones something like Fashion Week feels so irrelevant. A plain crash like this one really makes you realize how fragile life is and even though I didn’t knew anyone on the plane directly there are people in my surroundings who did. Watching the Instagram account of a great guy from 20 years old traveling the world posting a few hours before the crash. Those are the things that make you think for a second, a day, a week, a month or even the rest of your life. Life is fragile and we should enjoy every minute and every second of it. I know life will go on or already did go on, but I think it’s important to never forget the things that are truly important for you in your live… My thoughts go out to all the family and friends of the people who lost their lives during flight MH17.

With this in mind, this is my Fashion Week report.

Last weekend I had the honor of visiting five shows on Amsterdam Fashion Week. Due to some other, also very nice, obligations I eventually chose to visit (“only”) two shows. The ready to wear show by Ready to Fish by ILJA on friday and Vibrant Pakistan on saturday evening. Both of the shows were full of creative and beautiful designs but complete different at the same time! In this article I will show you my favorites from both shows. Since my photos didn’t turn out that beautifully I decided to use the photos from Team Peter Stigter to give you a good perspective of what the designs looked liked. First in line. Ready to Fish by ILJA.

The Ready to Fish show was inspired on Kinetic Art, a flow where motion is a very important aspect. And that’s exactly what this show represented. Motion. I loved the beautiful silhouettes, the flowy fabrics and fabric choices in general. The material and color of the jumpsuit and dress for instance looked so pure, something I would love to wear on a beautiful spring day. And the long printed t-shirt dress officially made it’s way into my 2015 wish list, although I’m not sure if my wallet is already aware of this… Something that really surprised me is the golden brown printed skirt. During the show I actually thought I was looking at a velvet piece, but it turned out to be an amazing executed print!

The Vibrant Pakistan show which I visited on saturday evening consisted of three different shows from three different designers. Bareeze Man, Made of Pakistan and Rang Ja. A totally different show full of color, different textures and embroidery. Something completely out off my comfort zone but also full of inspiring pieces. It truly gave me a whole new look on my wardrobe.

I hope you enjoyed the little report of my experience on Amsterdam Fashion Week. Tomorrow I will show you the favorites from a diversity of shows I unfortunately wasn’t able to visit. Enjoy your weekend!
