Ok, I know it’s been done, however, this love affair is being met with a street style twist!
Before I dug into this trend it was brought to my attention by a close friend. We were heading out, and of course taking the obligatory flicks for social media, as I peeped her unadulterated shoe game. On her feet she paired her suede platform boots with a pair of her boyfriend’s Nike socks! I took an immediate double take followed by a screeching “YESSSSSSSSS”. I was floored. Who would’ve thought this look could be taken to a completely higher level by a pair of socks?! A week later, as I was browsing my instagram, @TUFFMagazine posted a shot of a street siren at NYFW standing perched and unbothered in a stiletto and Nike sock combination. Coincidence?! I think not. I knew then that this was something major! Granted, Hooter’s girls and dancers alike have dawned this trend for ages, but to see it take such a rare form in fashion, OFF of the runway, is what had me at hello! I’m sure you’re asking your self “How in the world am I going to pull this look off?!” I must first say, every look is not for everybody, but I do encourage fashion flexibility and finding elements of trends that are cohesive to your current style. For those looking to up the ante in these high fashion stakes, take note!
This style sensation is about taking your current footwear to the next level. Whether short, long, or luxuriously lacy, this look is perfect from day to night. The layering effect will not only keep you warm, but will also allow you to control how casual your look is.
