One for the boys :: Indian Couture 2013

Ola! Apurva here. Well, a lot of you might feel that the Indian Couture week has been all about the bridal trousseau. As much as it is *almost* true, we couldn't help but drool at the sight of some gorgeous men on the ramp too.

Although selective, but designers did pull out some seriously distinguished gentlemen worthy looks. Apart from the patent tuxedos and sherwanis, some creative patterns, prints and designs made it to the runway.

So come away with me, (and bring your leading man along) as we recap our favourite five menswear trends that stood out in the crowd. Take a look!

Accessories :
The boys usually find accessories a tad overwhelming. But for us, even the smallest effort goes a long way, and that's why the use of an accessory by a man is always commendable. From a desi Indian groom, to an Oxford gentleman figure, accessories proved to steal the spotlight.

Pants :
Not just the color palette or a particular style, but on the whole... men's pants saw creatively conceived and interesting twists to the usual. The very basic churidaar pants got a makeover with floral prints, while the monochrome tone of a tuxedo got upgraded to a bright pop of colors.

Printed Kurtas :
This trend really wooed me away. There were a variety of 'Printed Kurtas' that could be seen on the runway. The prints were absolutely different from what we usually see. Teamed up with sophisticated seams, nehru collars and stylized accessories. And oh so pleasingly macho!
.

Shoes :
A good (read: comfortable) pair of shoes is super important for our boys! But who would have known that gladiator sandals would replace the traditional mojaris to be worn with a sherwani?

Waist Coats:
This is one piece of apparel, that goes absolutely spot - on when worn for any formal wear. Not only does it give a better dimension to the overall look, it also defines a well structured torso. Tarun Tahiliani added a crisp lift to the waist coats with asymmetrical cuts, while Raghavendra Rathore and Anju Modi adapted this simple classic with embroidered version
