ORANGE CULTURE

YOUNG TALENT- THAT’S THAT SHIT I LIKE.

Orange Culture Jacket, ASOS Dress, ASOS Belt, Jimmy Choo Heels (that I waited all my life for)

I still have all my travel photos to share from Mexico and even more outfits from Thailand but I thought I’d go back to the drawing board and post some real style.

I’ve been looking for these shoes for over a year. They retailed at almost £1000 and that was just never going to happen. Then, they went on sale and sold out before Firefox could even finish loading the net-a-porter landing page. I walked into the Jimmy Choo store at Bicester Village (outlet mall) after a long day of not finding anything that stole my heart. I was grateful for this because I need to stop spending money. Then I saw these shoes at a small fraction of the retail price and everything changed. I was subconsciously hoping that I would see them but I really wasn’t expecting to. I was so ecstatic that I immediately tried them on despite the fact that they were a UK size 2.5 (I’m a size 3.5-4), and they fit me! I was literally jumping around the store and walked up to a stranger asking him ‘are these not the best shoes you’ve ever seen?’. He agreed, of course. My mum saw my ecstatic state and bought them for me. She’s the best like that.

This is one of my favourite jackets by a friend and young Nigerian talent, Bayo Oke-Lawal. His high fashion brand: Orange Culture has achieved so much in the last year. He got into the final 30 out of 1,221 who entered the LVMH prize. He was up against designers like Simone Rocha, Ostwald Helgason, Vika Gazinskya and Stella Jean. Pretty crazy! I couldn’t believe my Instagram when I saw him showing off his collection in Paris and casually discussing it with Kanye West, Riccardo Tisci, Karl Lagerfeld and other real fashion heavyweights. So major! I love young talent and adore young Nigerian talent that doesn’t settle for mediocrity. Bayo has overcome so many challenges and obstacles that come with being a young brand based in Nigeria and I know he’s going to achieve so much international success. I’m so excited for him!

Follow him on Instagram to stay updated with Orange culture news and pre-order his new collection.
