Anniversary Lunch at Caffe Tosca

Six years ago today, I married my best friend, who also just happens to be a handsome devil. Lucky me!

To celebrate our anniversary, Mal and I got all dressed up this afternoon, left Q with his Mimi and Papi, and went out to lunch together.

Last week, the nice folks from Caffe Tosca invited me to lunch, so I took them up on their offer. A leisurely lunch on a beautiful day was a great way to celebrate six years with my hubby.

Mal and I dined at Caffe Tosca a couple of years ago, but we hadn’t been back since, so I was excited to visit again this afternoon. I especially love the atmosphere of their outdoor patio. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind when the weather is nice.

Our lunch date started with a couple of cocktails. I ordered the Blood Orange Cosmopolitan, which was fruity, but not too sweet. I hate it when drinks are syrupy-sweet, but this one was light and fresh.

To eat, Mal and I ordered a few different dishes to share. We had the Crispy Fried Oysters, which were served with potato salad, herbs, mustard vinaigrette, and remoulade. I actually wasn’t a huge fan of the remoulade, but only because it seemed to overpower the flavor of the oysters. However, the flavor combination of fried oyster potato salad mustard was incredible! Mmm!

We also ordered a beet salad to share, which the kitchen kindly split onto two plates for us. The beet salad was served with goat cheese, arugula, onion, walnuts, and a citrus vinaigrette. It was fresh, flavorful, and delicious!

For our entree, Mal and I ordered a thin crust pizza, which was half Sweet Italian Sausage (crispy bacon, red onion, marinara sauce, and mozzarella) and half Wild Mushroom (garlic cream, wild arugula, and truffle oil). Both pizzas were excellent, but the Wild Mushroom was easily my favorite dish of the meal. The mushrooms truffle oil was such an awesome flavor combination, and I loved, loved, loved it! (The leftovers were incredibly tasty too!)

And, of course, no meal is complete without dessert. Mal and I shared the Chocolate Torte with mint chocolate chip ice cream on top. The torte tasted like an under-cooked brownie (rich, moist, and super chocolaty) and, holy cow, it was amazing. And once the ice cream melted a little, every bite was heaven in my mouth!

All in all, it was a wonderful meal with delicious food, a relaxing atmosphere, and, of course, great company. Enjoying lunch at Caffe Tosca was definitely a nice way to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you, Caffe Tosca!
