"One coat a day keeps the doctor away." Or so I tweeted with resolute authority a week or so ago. It's no wonder I felt the need to repurpose an idiom to justify this out-of-control appetite for cold-weather coverups, for I simply cannot stop buying them. From below the knee robes, to tailored overcoats, and every single cocoon style available to mankind, I want them all. Everything the season has to offer. You may have noticed. And a sound investment it would be too, if only the cost-per-wear could be brought down a notch. Thing with coats, is that they don't come cheap...
Like with all guilty pleasures, the key is to come up with a system that allows you to indulge without feeling the guilt (i.e. order double cheeseburgers three nights in a row... and embrace masculine tailoring until you can squeeze back into your go-to skinnies). With my clothes, I have found Vestiaire Collective to hold the answer.
Why wait for Black Friday, when you can find designer discounts at the drop of a hat all year round? That Celine tote sweeping the blogosphere? Set up an alert, why don't ya. Those Dries stripes that adorn all but you in your dreams? A serial Vestiaire user will wake up to find them on her doorstep before Pre-Fall has made them redundant. Hurry up, you just missed the Boy that is being courted by every girl in town. Keep your eye in, though, he always comes back for more. Don't hate the player...
Meanwhile and as usual, I find myself in the coat room.
