Review: Bobbi Brown x L’Wren Scott Amnesia Rose Palette
Bobbi Brown teamed up with L’Wren Scott for a collaboration which is the Amnesia Rose Collection. Inspired by the amnesia rose grown by L’Wren at her Loire Valley chateau, the limited edition Amnesia Rose Collection was unveiled at L’Wren’s Spring 2014 Fashion Show during London Fashion Week. Now, it is available to us. I have with me the Amnesia Rose palette, and I love the packaging.
The palette consists of 6 eye shadows, 1 powder blush and 1 pot rouge. I do not like mixing powders and creams, and this is my main complaint when it comes to this palette. We all know that Bobbi Brown’s eye shadows are softer and sheerer in texture, and this palette is no different. The blush is very pigmented, so a light hand is needed for application. As for the pot rouge, it is best applied using fingers. If you try to pick up the product using a brush, you might end up with some glitters from neighboring eye shadows on your face. Sand Pink blush is a warm toned plummy pink on my skin while Desert Rose is the cream version.
Amnesia Rose is a taupe with the slightest hint of rose while the 2 glitters just look pale pink to me. I can’t tell the difference when swatched on my arm, honestly. All these 3 shades are very sheer. Before swatching, I thought Amnesia Rose would pack on more punch, but it’s just a soft touch on the eyes.
The colours on the right are bolder by Bobbi Brown standards, and I was anticipating Ultra Violet to be a shocking pinky purple. I was disappointed to find that it is the softest colour among the 3. Iron is a steel grey, Ultra Violet is a soft purple while Mulberry, the most pigmented of the lot, is a dark purple with a tinge of grey. All 3 swatched smoothly with no dryness.
Here, I created a day time look using the left side of the palette. Amnesia Rose is on my lids and lower lash lines. The shimmers are applied lower than I normally would, on the inner half of my lower lash line. Using Amnesia Rose, I faked an eye bag, a technique that’s quite popular in Korea right now.
