Tip: Blemish Free Face Post Travel

I remember complaining that I always had a zit here and there after travelling. I always wondered why and I thought it might be due to the fact that my face was extra dirty from all the sight seeing and exploring. I went to Melbourne for 2 weeks and came back with a few big zits on my chin and nose. I went to Singapore and came back with more blackheads than ever. So I decided to experiment with my cleansing routine. I recently came back from Hong Kong, and my face DID NOT break out!

I was armed with 3 main things.

1. Simplicity - I only had a cleanser, toner and moisturiser (and of course sunscreen for the day)

2. EXFOLIATE!

3. MASK

For cleanser, I used Estee Lauder’s Nutritious Cleanser. This EL cleanser also acts as a cleansing mask so I’d apply it on my face and leave it there for a couple of minutes before blasting out my Clarisonic Plus. I’d only use my Clarisonic in the evening to get rid of all the dirt and dead skin cells especially during travels. Then, I’d apply a hydrating mask. I really like the Antipodes’ Manuka Honey Mask for this purpose because it hydrates AND keeps bumps at bay. I wash it off after 10 minutes, then pat on my toner and moisturizer. That’s it! The mask keeps my face hydrated from sleeping in the air conditioned hotel room, and the Clarisonic exfoliated away all my dead skin cells. I suspect these are the 2 main reasons. If you’re sensitive to the Clarisonic, I guess any exfoliating agent would suffice.

Do you break out during or after travelling? I always did until my most recent trip, and I’ll stick to this routine the next time I travel. Do you have any tips to share?

xoxo Lily
