Review: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

Is the hype over yet? Remember when everyone was talking about this concealer? Yeah, I was one of them who just HAD to try it. And I did. Has it been nearly a year already, since its launch? I can’t remember. All I know is, while it was hyped up, the claims were legit. This concealer IS awesome. I took my time to write about this. I wanted to post this ages ago, but I thought that it would be so redundant to repeat what the rest have already said. Now that the hype has died down, I’d like to share with you what I like about the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer.

First of all, it’s a liquid concealer that applies very easily. Gone were the days when I bought concealers in a pot. I like to just dab the concealer under my eyes and around my nose, and wherever else I need it, blend then set with powder. Hassle free, fast, simple. I like that while this concealer is creamy, it doesn’t feel heavy. It sinks into the skin like second skin and it actually stays there until I remove it. Granted, I don’t wear makeup more than 8 hours nowadays, but for a concealer to stay more than 5 hours in this hot and humid weather? It’s already a winner.

There is also a wide variety of shades to choose from. I am between Vanilla and Custard but opted for Custard instead. I would get Vanilla once this runs out. Custard actually looks more peach on me, but the shade is pretty good to counter my dark circles. Vanilla will be a better match to cover redness around my nose, but I’m not too fussy. I have other concealers. Sometimes, I’d mix Custard with another concealer of a lighter shade, and that also works. Also, the difference on my face is minimal.

For scientific purpose, I tried applying this on top of powder and it was perfectly fine. Well, the truth is I applied powder first, then figured I really needed some concealer. LOL! Below is to show you the texture of the concealer. It is not a lightweight concealer. It’s not so thick that it clings to every line on your face, but nice enough to offer medium to full coverage.

Here is to show you the coverage of this concealer. On the left is my bare face after skincare. I just dabbed the concealer where there’s darkness or redness. The photo on the right shows you the effect of the concealer – no powder or anything else on top of the concealer.

Is there anything I don’t like about it? Yeah, the shade I want is always out of stock online. There is only 1 store in this country, making it pretty inconvenient for anyone not living in KL. Is this a Holy Grail material? Well, if I must say so, no. I found a pretty good drugstore one in Revlon Colorstay Concealer, the only problem being the limited shade selection. The lightest shade available here (Light Medium, I think) works fine, so I might repurchase that once I’m done with all my current concealers. All I really need is undereye concealer, so a slightly darker shade than my skin tone is not a problem. In fact, if I go lighter, it might look ashy

What’s your current concealer in rotation? Do you have a HG or favourite to share?

xoxo Lily
