stormy weather.

It’s a gloomy Sunday here in central Texas & the cat and I are holed up at home, being cozy & quiet. I’m using the downtime to get caught up on a ton of laundry, including cleaning & soaking vintage textiles, blankets and odds & ends. The pile of “to wash” and “to soak” in my work room is pretty embarrassing, so it’s nice to finally make a dent. I’ve also done a bit of re-arranging of furniture, hanging of frames & started a batch of onion soup in the crockpot. Now I think I’ll sit down with an audio-book & get some hand-sewing done on an equally embarrassing pile of “to mend” vintage clothing. It’s just that sort of weather.

Gorgeous onions I picked up at the farmer’s market yesterday. Love the colors!

Since we hate the dull beige of our (rented) walls, we’re covering them with art & frames. The wall behind our dining table is turning into my “creepy vintage group photo” collection display. I picked up those black frames on super sale at Target last week.

Townes has taken over the basket where I keep wool lap blankets. He likes it better than his actual cat bed.

Adorable embroidery on a 1930s linen card-table cover that I washed & ironed this morning.

So excited about this 1930s Pendleton blanket I found for an absolute song at an estate sale a few months back. It’s been in the freezer, a great way to make sure no moth larvae get into the house, and I washed it gently this morning in the bath-tub. It’s got several holes, but it’s bright & sturdy & I love it.

More vintage textiles soaking in the kitchen sink. Just a basic soak of off-brand oxi-clean for this lot.
